For Sale By Owner And The Web

For Sale By Owner And The Web

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know the Internet has radically changed society. In real estate, this has led to a massive surge in for sale by owner properties on the web.

For Sale By Owner and the Web

In the past, choosing to go the path of ?For Sale By Owner? could turn out to be incredibly difficult and overbearing. Realtors dominated the market because they had proprietary access to the multiple listing service, known as MLS, and you had to be listed in it if you wanted your property to be seen. Thankfully, the Internet has made selling a home yourself incredibly easy in a variety of ways.

If we flash back 10 years to the pre-internet days, we would find a real estate market that looks foreign to what we have today. In that market, the number one method for selling your home was to list it in the multiple listing service controlled by real estate agents. This, of course, allowed them to get their hooks into you and squeeze out a commission regardless of the quality of service they provided. If we flash forward to the present day, we find a new landscape.

A 2005 study of homebuyers across the United States revealed a fact that most realtors are loath to admit to, but know exists. Over 70 percent of homebuyers shop for potential properties on the internet. Yes, seven out of every 10 are hopping online and finding the property of their dreams. Why? The reason is very simple. Would you rather drive all over town looking at homes that don?t really match what you are after and blowing your valuable time or would you prefer to sit at your computer and click through properties with pictures? Unless you really love driving, the answer is obvious.

In our modern society, time is the most valuable asset. Listing your property on the internet is a huge time saver because it is all point and click. If you are selling, you can upload descriptions and pictures for buyers to view. If you are buying, you can see pictures of both the inside and outside of potential properties while relaxing at your desk. Either way, it beats sitting in traffic while driving all over town.

Forex Trading 101 - What Is Selling And Buying

Maybe it's the case in your country too, many people want to make a new profitable income from the Forex marketplace. People like you and me want to do it, large corporate want to do it. In fact, most of the institution like banks and insurances make millions on this currency trading marketplace. But for ordinary people, this is a good way to make a home-business at home, easily and without spending too much money at the beginning and without losing your current lifestyle.

If you speak with any traders, you will shortly know that the Forex market is one of the most profitable marketplaces out there. Without the internet, this huge money-making marketplace would always be the sole domain of large institutions. In the USA, for example, we can name the Federal Reserve Bank. They make money for themselves with your money and then they give you nothing back. Now, you can simply go online, open an account and shoot for your first currency trading. One important point you have to know is that those large companies are making tons of money because they can invest your money; I mean millions and billion of dollars. However, you can take your share, and you must take your share now because with a limited investment you can start making a 3 or a 4 digit your very first month...

... The only things you have to know or to follow are 2 or 3 tactics to master. You see, it can be a new stable source of income for you and for your family.

As the Forex marketplace is a colossal market with billions of dollars traded every single day by large institution, you can bet that they want a lot of money. That's the main reason why there are very few commissions and fees on this market. It is not the same thing as the stock market. You do not have fees for that and fees for this. You only pay a commission on your bids.

You have 5 popular currencies: Swiss Franc, Euro, British Pound, Japanese Yen and the US Dollar. We can say that today those five currency accounts for 60% to 70% of North American trading. You have many choices when you enter the Forex market. We can also name other currencies like the Canadian, New Zealand or the Australian Dollars.

Buying means that you acquire a currency from a selected currency pair to open the trade and selling short means selling a particular currency to open a trade. When you buy, the currency pair has to increase with time to make a profit (you buy cheap and sell high, as they say). If we take the example of selling short, we are going to make money when the currency pair decreases with time. When this is the case you bought it back at the new price. At this moment, you can sell the currency at your previous price when you had opened your trading. Your profit is the difference between your short selling and your buying. I know it can be confusing but when you will be in front of your Forex chart and in front of your bank account it will look much simpler.

Dollar Drink Night: Boozing With Coworkers Could Help You Financially

Dollar Drink Night: Boozing With Coworkers Could Help You Financially

There's a group in every office. They hit the nearby watering hole for happy hour once or twice a week after work to vent shared frustrations, talk about the boss behind his back, maybe even plot future career moves. Thumbing your nose at this carousing crew? Think twice, turning down an invite to grab a post-shift drink might be hazardous to your financial future.

A recent study published by The Journal of Labor Research shows that drinkers earn 10 to 14 percent more than those who avoid the bottle altogether. The reason? The study contends it's something called social capital. That is, the more you're out enjoying a drink, the more people you meet. The more people you meet, the more doors that are opened for you professionally. And as is the general rule in the business world?it's not what you know, it's who you know.

The study contends that specifically, it's drinkers who hit the bar that see the most benefits financially, as opposed to those who tip the glass at home. It's all about social capital, which the study defines as ?a person's social characteristics, including social skills, charisma, and the size of his Rolodex, which enable him to reap market and nonmarket returns from interactions with others.? Drinkers who hit the bars have a lot of it, drinkers who sip alone have a little less, nondrinkers have less yet.

The study argues that it's possible that abstainers may steer clear of social occasions involving drinking, and if not, they will socialize with other nondrinkers or less social people. It's also possible that abstainers might be considered boring by drinkers, and not be invited to a gathering at all. Those who drink socially may have an easier time attaining a higher paying job or reinforce bonds with coworkers or associates who could have a direct impact on salary. Though the reasons behind nondrinkers? lack of social capital weren?t specifically tackled in the study, one thing is clear'drinkers earn significantly more than those who abstain.

For example, female drinkers pull in 14 percent more than their nondrinking counterparts. Men who hit the bottle regularly earn 10 percent more than guys who stick with soft drinks.

The pot gets even sweeter for males who hit their favorite watering hole on a regular basis. Men who visited a bar at least once a month earned an additional 7 percent over the 10 percent advantage. That isn?t the case for women barflies, however. No marked advantage was shown for ladies who visited pubs regularly over those who did not.

Though not sponsored by any interests in the alcohol industry, the study was conducted as a response to recent anti-alcohol campaigns on college campuses, limits on alcohol advertising, and tax increases on liquor. Authors of the study contend that since their research shows that drinkers earn significantly more than nondrinkers, perhaps attempting to discourage drinking in society might have a negative impact on our ability to earn.

So next time your cubicle partner asks you to join the crew for a drink after work, think twice before you pass. According to the stats, it might be to your benefit to say ?First round's on me?.

Irs Continues To Help Hurricane Katrina Victims

Irs Continues To Help Hurricane Katrina Victims

The IRS is often bashed as being unfriendly to taxpayers. In many cases, this reputation is deserved. In relation to Hurricane Katrina victims, it is certainly not.

As is well-known by now, the federal government did its best Keystone Cops imitation following Hurricane Katrina. Frankly, the action or lack thereof was disgraceful. It is somewhat ironic given this fact that one government agency acted swiftly, effectively and with common sense to help the victims of the tragedy. To the surprise of many, that agency was the IRS.

You might wonder how the IRS could possibly help those devastated by the hurricane? In a number of ways. The first step taken by the agency was to extend all tax deadlines out by a year or more. The agency also temporarily terminated all federal gas taxes on diesel fuel in an effort to provide relief to the fuel shortage. What many do not understand is some of these 'dirty diesel? taxes effectively bar the use of such fuel by trucks. By waving the tax, the IRS opened up an entirely new fuel source to help get trucks moving again.

The IRS then took the extraordinary step of trying to educate taxpayers on how they could claim their losses from the hurricane on previously filed tax returns by amending those returns. Yes, the IRS effectively taught people how to go back and pull large amounts from their previously filed tax returns and how to do so quickly. This, of course, put money in their pockets within 30 to 60 days, which compares favorably to FEMA and the rest of the federal government efforts.

Two years after Hurricane Katrina, it would be reasonable to expect the IRS to view the events as being at an end. This, of course, would lead to a situation where victims of the hurricane are required to get back on the tax horse if you will. In truth, the IRS continues to show surprising compassion and flexibility.

The agency has just announced it is extending by one calendar year the time victims of Hurricane Katrina have to sell off vacant land and avoid paying a tax on the gains. The normal time period is two years, which is a rather lengthy period. Given the devastation and slow state of reconstruction in the Gulf region, the IRS is displaying what many did not foresee ? compassion. If it continues to take steps like this, it might just ruin its reputation!
